Archive Email: Can't Add Personal Gmail Account in Outlook

A student receives an error when they're trying to add their Gmail account in the Outlook desktop app to archive their Outlook emails, following the recommended step in the above instructions:

This error occurs because in Google blocks the applications that use less secured sign-in technology.
After getting the error, the student should have received a "Critical Security Alert" email in their Gmail account:

- Go to https://myaccount.google.com/security , and turn on access for less secure apps (This can be turned back off later after they're done with archiving).
- Note: their 2-Step Verification might be turned on as well and may also cause the error. Turn off if needed.
- Go back to the Outlook desktop app and click Add Account.
- Enter the Gmail address > Advanced options > check Let me set up my account manually > Connect
- Click POP or IMAP and enter the password.
