Mimecast Essentials for Outlook (Add-in)
Mimecast Essentials for Outlook is a powerful add-in for Microsoft Outlook that enhances your email management by allowing you to report suspicious messages, manage senders, and handle on-hold messages. Here's a straightforward guide to using these features.
Installation:
1. In Outlook on the web (outlook.anderson.ucla.edu), go to the navigation bar and select More Apps > Add apps. (or go to https://aka.ms/olksideload)

2. Search for "Mimecast Essentials for Outlook" and add

Reporting a Message
When you report a message in Mimecast Essentials for Outlook, several actions are automatically triggered to protect you from potential threats:
- The reported message is moved to your Junk Email folder.
- The sender of the message is added to your Blocked Senders list.
- The message is forwarded to Mimecast's Security Team for further analysis.
How to Report a Message:

On Desktop (Windows/Mac):
- Select the message from your inbox.
- Click the reporting button (e.g., "Report Spam" or "Report Phishing").
- Confirm your choice in the pop-up dialog.

On the Web:
- Select the message from your inbox.
- Click the reporting button and choose your reporting option from the drop-down menu.
- Confirm in the dialog box.

On Mobile:
- Select the message from your inbox.
- Tap the icon in the message header and choose "Report Spam" or "Report Phishing."
- Confirm in the dialog box.
Note: Ensure you are authenticated with Mimecast when performing these actions, as you may be prompted to log in.

Managing Senders
The Manage Senders feature helps you control who can and cannot send you emails by managing your lists of blocked, permitted, and trusted senders.
Accessing and Managing Senders:

On Desktop Outlook:
- Click the "Manage Senders" icon on the Outlook ribbon.
- Choose which list (Blocked, Permitted, etc.) you want to manage from the side panel.

On the Web:
- Click the Mimecast icon in the message header.
- Select "Manage Senders" from the menu.

On Mobile:
- Tap the three-dot icon in the message header.
- Select "Manage Senders" from the menu.
Key Actions:

Filtering: Search or filter your lists by email address or domain.

Adding Entries: Click the plus icon, enter the email or domain, and select "Block" or "Permit."

Deleting Entries: Select an entry, click the three dots icon, and choose "Remove."

Moving Entries: Move entries between lists by selecting an entry and choosing "Block" or "Permit."

Managing On Hold Queues
On Hold queues allow you to review emails that have been held due to security policies. You can then decide to release or reject these messages.
Types of On Hold Queues:

Personal On Hold: Displays your held messages.

Moderated On Hold: Accessible by administrators or designated overseers, showing held messages for all users or specific accounts.

- Click the "On Hold" icon on the Outlook ribbon.
- Choose the queue you wish to manage from the side panel.

- Select the message, click the Mimecast icon, and choose "On Hold" from the menu.
