Will we be prompted to change our password periodically?
No, however it is a good idea to change your passwords every so often.
If I get a new computer, can I redo the tech orientation?
Yes, the tech orientation is open until you graduate. If you get a new computer, please feel free to go back to it and redo the tech orientation.
Will we be able to keep technology resources after graduating?
For MBA (FTMBA, FEMBA, EMBA, NUS/GEMBA, PHD) students, Anderson email becomes Lifelong Email Forwarding (LEF) on October 15th after graduation.
For MFE and MSBA, Anderson email becomes Lifelong Email Forwarding (LEF) on March 15th after graduation.

Is UCLA under eduroam?
Yes, UCLA has been within the eduroam network since around 2013.
How do we access the Anderson Network account?
You retrieve the Anderson Network account during the online technology orientation. It’s used for a small number of relevant services, including the IT Service Central website, Anderson Proxy for library research databases, and on-site printing. The online technology orientation can be found as a course in Bruin Learn.
If you don't have access, please contact your program office to be enrolled in the course.
Email, Outlook, and CalendarCan we set up an email alias?
You can change your email address without a legal name change once. Please contact STS (sts@anderson.ucla.edu) with the new desired email address in the form of firstname.lastname.gradyear@anderson.ucla.edu.
My Anderson email uses both of my last names. Can I remove one?
You can request an email alias from us to remove one of the names. The email alias still needs to be in the format firstname.lastname.gradyear@anderson.ucla.edu. If you’ve legally changed it, you will need to reach out to the UCLA Registrar's Office to make this change, then we can make this change on all Anderson systems without using your email alias.
If we add an email alias, does it also change in Outlook or do we need to keep track of both aliases?
When an alias is created, emails going to both addresses will go to the same mailbox you have access to. Emails you send out will appear as the new alias, even if it shows otherwise in Outlook.
Do the punctuation (periods, hyphens, apostrophes) in our email address matter?
Yes, when advertising your email address, you will need to include the punctuation. If you’d like a version without the punctuation, please send us a request to create a one-time email alias. Your Anderson email must still be in the format firstname.lastname.gradyear@anderson.ucla.edu.
What is the @g.ucla.edu, @ucla.edu email and how we access them?
The @g.ucla.edu and @ucla.edu are email addresses assigned to all UCLA students.
- The @g.ucla.edu is on the Google Apps for Education platform. You can access @g.ucla.edu from https://g.ucla.edu.
-
The @ucla.edu is a forwarding address, but you can configure where emails to this go to from https://accounts.iam.ucla.edu. You can send out as this email from the g.ucla.edu by adding it as a Send As address in the Gmail settings.
Can we use the @g.ucla.edu and @ucla.edu emails?
Yes! Keep in mind that Anderson administrators will be contacting you at your Anderson email, so make sure you check that regularly or forward emails from that to your other address.
I'm missing an email. What do I do?
Please contact us with the sender and/or email subject to investigate.
Is there a reason why we use Outlook?
Office 365 offers us many resources, such as a consolidated online address book, Office download, Teams, etc.
Where can we find the instructions for setting up Outlook?
We have instructions at the IT Service Central website. Please see the articles titled [SSO]: https://it.anderson.ucla.edu/support/solutions/folders/6000049076
Can we send calendar invitations?
Yes! If you’re having trouble doing so, please contact us.
I’m using UCLALogon@ucla.edu to log onto Outlook on my other devices, but it isn’t working.
The username fields do indeed use UCLALogon@ucla.edu as the username. If this doesn’t work, it’s usually resolved with a case-by-case consultation regarding your devices, so please contact us to take a look.
The Microsoft Office 365 Store won't let me install add-ins.
Please contact us with the addin name and we will request it be enabled on your account.
Outlook for Windows/Mac won’t open external links.
This is usually a configuration issue with Outlook and is generally resolved with case-by-case consultation. Please contact us to take a look.
I don’t see the Anderson Onboarding calendar in my Outlook. Is this normal?
For shared calendars, you will need to add them to your Outlook, per device. Webmail, Outlook for Windows/Mac, and Outlook for iOS/Android will need to be done separately.
To get email and calendar on iPhone and Android, do you recommend Mail/Calendar or Outlook?
You can use either (or both) apps up to your preference, although we’ve seen more consistency with the Outlook mobile apps.
Can we link Zoom to Outlook? Is there a Zoom plugin?
Yes! You can download the Zoom plugin for webmail and Outlook directly from Zoom: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115005223126
If we don’t have an Anderson email yet, will those emails be visible once we are set up or are they bouncing?
Unfortunately until your account is created, it will bounce. We can retrieve a list of emails that tried to reach you in the last week or so if needed – please contact us if so.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)Can we choose not to set up MFA?
MFA is required on all UCLA student and employee accounts. For students it will be required starting the first day of class, so we recommend setting it up before that.
Do we need to use Duo or will any MFA listed work?
Duo Mobile app, phone call, and text message will all work, although Duo is the most convenient method. All MFA methods are listed on UCLA’s Identity and Access Management (IAM) website at https://www.it.ucla.edu/iamucla/choosing-right-device-mfa.
Can we use multiple devices for MFA?
Yes! You can use multiple devices for MFA. We recommend a second device in case the first becomes inaccessible. Personal Google accounts in the US can create Google Voice phone numbers for this purpose.
Can we change the phone number associated with MFA?
As long as you can go through the MFA, you can change your MFA settings, including phone number at https://accounts.iam.ucla.edu/mfa. We recommend you set up a secondary device just in case your primary device becomes inaccessible. If you only have one devices and it can no longer go through MFA, please contact UCLA IT Services at help@it.ucla.edu and they can assist with temporarily turning off MFA to set up another device.
How do we make MFA automatically send a push?
When you get to the MFA choices screen (Send me a push, Call Me, Text Me), there is a Settings option in the bottom left. You can configure it to automatically select Push every time. Note that the websites like CCLE with the Keep me signed in for 12 hours option will not have this option checked when you set up automatic push.
Software and Subscription ServicesAre there discounts to software?
The UCLA Computer Store offers academic pricing for many software: https://shop.uclastore.com/c-907-software.aspx
Microsoft distributor Onthehub also offers free and academic pricing for software: https://ucla.onthehub.com.
Do we have access to Windows 10?
Windows 10 Education is free for all UCLA students at https://ucla.onthehub.com.
Do we have access to Adobe Creative Cloud?
Yes, students may register for a Creative Cloud license through https://ucla.onthehub.com by following these instructions including installation: https://ucla.service-now.com/support?id=kb_article&sys_id=KB0013458
Do we have access to Adobe Acrobat Pro?
Yes, Adobe Acrobat Pro is included as a software in the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
Do we have access to LinkedIn Premium? [Updated 8/6/2020]
We don’t have access to LinkedIn Premium, but Parker CMC may know of a way to access this resource.
Do we have access to Bluebeam?
We unfortunately don’t have licenses to Bluebeam.
Mac OSIs Bootcamp required?
Bootcamp isn’t required for school. However, there are some electives that may have statistical software only available for Windows. If you take one of those courses, you can install Windows via Bootcamp or a virtual machine like Parallels or VMWare Fusion. During open hours, the UCLA Computer Store also does consultations on how to install Windows on Mac.
Is there a recommendation on installing Windows on Mac?
Bootcamp splits your hard drive into two parts. Windows can use the full hardware resources, but you have to restart your computer to go between the two. Virtual machines like Parallels and VMWare Fusion virtualize Windows within your Mac, so you can use it like another program. All the hardware is virtualized, however. For coursework, this is sufficient, but it won’t run larger software as well as on Bootcamp. The recommendation is up to preference.
Library Research Databases – Anderson ProxyDo we have access to research journals and academic publications?
Yes! A full listing of the research databases offered by UCLA and the Rosenfeld Library, including how to access each, is listed at the Rosenfeld Library website: https://www.anderson.ucla.edu/rosenfeld-library/databases. Most of these databases are accessed via the Anderson proxy using your Anderson Network account.
Some databases list Special Access – is this something we need to request from STS?
This differs per database. Please click the More button for more information regarding access.
Do we need to turn on the UCLA VPN along with the Anderson proxy to have off-campus access to databases?
The Anderson proxy encompasses the database access that the UCLA VPN would provide, so you only need to have the Anderson proxy. The UCLA VPN is used by the rest of campus to access the databases listed as UC and UCLA.
Do we have access to WSJ?
The database listed is for articles from 1889-2011, 1984-current, and Transcripts. WSJ online is not available, but you can contact a Rosenfeld research librarian at rosenfeldlibrary@anderson.ucla.edu and they can provide guidance on research.
Why does my personal WSJ subscription require proxy after configuring it?
The proxy appears for all WSJ sites; for your personal WSJ subscription, you can either turn off the proxy for that use or log in through the proxy to bypass this. Alternatively, you can set up the proxy on only an alternate browser (Firefox or Chrome is recommended) and only use that browser for research.
